Traditional rigid dentures can be painful, hard to get accustomed to using, cause soreness on your gums, and are easily broken by something as small as dropping them. Flexible dentures are a newer option in dentures that can remove the problems of rigid dentures.

Our dentist, Dr. Narinder Mahal, is passionate about your oral health. Together with our team at Land Park Dental in Sacramento, California, we want to help you know more about your options for dentures.

Traditional dentures are made of a rigid resin and metal base that comes with common concerns and problems. Flexible dentures are made from a nylon base and provide a solution for those patients who do not want to deal with the common problems of traditional dentures. Flexible dentures clung to the gums and do not require adhesive or clasps to keep in place which increases the comfort and ease of use for most patients. Most patients find it easier to chew when using flexible dentures.

The only concern with flexible dentures is they require more cleaning than rigid dentures to avoid infection. The flexible base is more prone to bacteria buildup. To avoid this, a patient needs to only remove the dentures every day and brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and warm water.
